Resolution to Restore Citizenship on United States Census

WHEREAS, the information collected by the United States Census Bureau is critical to the decision making of government;

WHEREAS, the allocation of funds and services provided by government are based on population calculated using the data collected by the United States Census Bureau;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of [state], the Governor concurring therein, call upon Congress to require any questionnaire used in the decennial census include a checkbox or other similar option for respondents to indicate whether the respondent and each household member is a U.S. citizen.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Department of Commerce must make public the number of citizens and noncitizens in each state and make data regarding citizenship available in the same manner and at the same time as other census data.
